Financial Fortitude Initiative – Provides a collaboration of information from prominent financial institutions to assist the chapter in financial education throughout our community and build wealth and financial stability by understanding the basic principles of earning, spending, saving, and investing. Through internal development and community-based workshops, seminars and presentations, the Portsmouth Alumnae chapter strives to inform ourselves and others on the importance of estate planning, wealth creation, and financial stability.
OASIS Commission of Social Ministry – Oasis is a private, not for profit, charitable corporation. Our mission is to provide comprehensive services to the homeless and the less fortunate in Portsmouth, Western Chesapeake and Northern Suffolk. In collaboration with OASIS, the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter, volunteers with the pantry, thrift shop and soup kitchen to support this ecumenical multi-serving agency committed to helping individuals and families to meet their basic needs and to support their efforts of self-reliance and independence. Adopt-A-Spot - Adopt-A-Spot is a volunteer program for individuals or groups that want to take pride and ownership in their own part of Portsmouth. Picking up litter at our very own spot and make it beautiful!
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., established the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF), as, a 501© (3) non-profit foundation. DREF was designed to help strengthen and expand the charitable, educational, scientific programs of Delta Sigma Theta and other organizations with similar community service goals.

DREF provides:

-BENEFITS for contributors to the national, regional and chapter activities of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
-RESEARCH AND PROGRAM INITIATIVES through The Center For Research on African American Women serving as a comprehensive database and resource on the diverse lifestyles of African American women and the roles they have played in contributing to the building of the United States. The Center is designed to present extensive research on Black women that will be of significance for policy decision-making on both local and national levels.
-The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and the Delta Research and Education Foundation (DREF), in partnership with the AAAS Directorate for Education and Human Resources Programs, are implementing a 5-year Science and Everyday Experiences (SEE) Initiative, an informal science education project funded by the National Science Foundation. The SEE Initiative will help parents and caregivers of African American elementary and middle school age children (K-8) develop effective ways to support children’s informal science and mathematics learning experiences. www.deltasee.com
